Ghost Of Pop 8: A Great Event With An Even Greater MissionPosted: December 10, 2012
In My Humble Opinion: Ghost of Pop 8, an event held at Gallery5 this past weekend was an entertaining night with good friends, potent drinks and great music. The event, which celebrated its 8th year helped to benefit the organization Home Again, a community program that’s mission is to offer shelter and services to homeless men and women. This was the first Ghost of Pop event I had attended personally, but it’s no mystery as to why it has remained an annual event for the past 8 years. Gallery5 provides an exciting venue with a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere. The entertainment offered throughout the evening came in many forms; fun photography with props, Henna tattoos, drinking, and of course live music. The bands that performed included; headliner SAU (reunited) with a special appearance by Michael Bishop of GWAR and Kepone, Andrew Leahey & The Homestead, The Trillions, My Old Ways, Herro Sugar and Goldrush. I had never heard any of the bands play before but was delighted with the various styles offered up by each band. They were all great but for me personally, the highlight of the evening came when Goldrush took the stage, for whatever reason, I seemed to gravitate toward its performance the most. All in all it was a great evening and many thanks go out to my good friend and Gallery5 Chairman Justin Laughter for inviting me out. It’s definitely something I look forward to attending again in the future.
