In My Humble Opinion: Announcing that there are plans for a Ghostbusters 3, then saying that Bill Murray won’t be involved is like announcing a Presidential debate and then saying Mitt Romney and Barack Obama won’t be participating. I just read on comingsoon.net that Ghostbusters 3 is in the works and is reportedly moving forward, despite the fact that Bill Murray will not be involved. So basically, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis need some work I’m guessing. Let’s see here, if Bill Murray isn’t involved, then its plausible to assume Sigourney Weaver and her character won’t be either. Rick Moranis has retired from acting/comedy and lives in Canada and has not announced any plans of coming out of retirement, so he’s out. The article also makes no mention of Ernie Hudson…the affirmative action Ghostbuster. Let’s give the studio the benefit of the doubt and say Ernie Hudson is in, no offense Ernie, but given the lack of participation by some the major stars from the first two films; shouldn’t the studio seriously consider abandoning the project altogether? Dan Aykroyd said that the film will focus on a new generation of younger Ghostbusters, but still…why bother? This goes back to the entry I made a few days ago about reunions. If the studio can’t get the entire cast back to participate, odds are that the movie isn’t going to be that good. I’m hoping Bill either reconsiders or the studio decides to scrap the project altogether. If the studio is hell-beant on reviving this franchise then might I suggest instead of a sequel a…GULP…Remake is done?
