In My Humble Opinion: Ryan Reynolds was miscast from the get go. I like Ryan Reynolds, I think he can combine comedy and action in a way that’s entertaining, at least when the powers that be allow him to. That being said, I don’t think he was the best choice for The Green Lantern. Now to be honest, I’m not the biggest Green Lantern fan. He’s far from one of my favorite super heroes but he’s obviously got a loyal following and a pretty interesting back story so hopefully Hollywood will do him some justice (pun intended) next time around. A lot of names are being tossed around for Ryan Reynolds’ replacement (I’m not even sure if Ryan Reynolds won’t come back?) so I’m gonna throw my suggestion out there as well. How about Nathan Fillion? Yeah yeah, you can make an argument that he might be too old, but honestly when I watch the cartoons with my son, The Justice League members always remind me of middle-aged men/women rather than 20 something year olds that just outgrew their Abercrombie and Fitch apparel. Fillion has voiced The Green Lantern in a few cartoons and from what I’ve heard/read is somewhat of a comic geek himself; so why not give the man a chance? He’d be no bigger a gamble than when Favreau cast Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man…and we all know how well that turned out.
